AeroLab is dedicated to the highest level of accuracy and repeatability in real-world aerodynamic testing. Our engineering standards are trusted by several industry leaders using the AeroPro system to measure the impacts of their innovative designs.
In order to achieve this level of quality and performance each AeroPro sensor:
- is wind tunnel calibrated annually to maintain sensitivity and ensure precision over time
- contains lab grade onboard sensors to function independently to any head unit without compromises
- measures all environmental parameters and rider dynamics at a minimum of 20x per second for unparalleled data resolution
A tried and trusted protocol is of the utmost importance when performing real-world testing. Starting with our out and back protocol the R&D team is constantly working to develop new ways of using the AeroPro sensor to expand the repertoire of aerodynamic test whether that is at the velodrome, or measuring performance over an entire race effort. The AeroPro is the key tool in no longer guessing what makes you faster.
Our system automatically calibrates to each rider so you can perform individualized tests for each athlete without delay, saving time while optimizing your customers performance. Many competitor sensors require an lengthy calibration ride before each session.
The AeroPro is able to measure aerodynamic performance regardless of the road surface. Suboptimal conditions introduce variability increasing the importance of capturing rider dynamics at a high resolution. The inability to quantify this variance with a high degree of precision limits the suitable test locations of an aerodynamic sensor. This is not the case for the AeroPro system.
Due to the quality of data gathered by the AeroPro, our system can adapt to your locations. If you have an ideal test location but it’s only 500 meters long, the lap length can be altered to suit your situation and our advanced cloud based algorithms will stitch together your data. Other systems require exceptionally long (up to 10 kilometers) distances which can be difficult to find and often busy reducing rider safety. We recommend a minimum section distance of 400 meters yielding a combined lap of 800 meters.
The AeroPro system was designed with engineering quality in mind, understanding the importance of repeatable test results to ensure confidence in your real-world testing. The AeroPro accounts for complex parameters such as high degrees of wind yaw and sudden changes in wind dynamics so that you are informed. Most competitors do not measure wind yaw and the associated changes due to aggressive wind dynamics. Without these parameters CdA can vary and you won’t know why.
A variety of environmental conditions such as air temperature, humidity, road surface, and bank angle effect the amount of energy lost due to rolling (i.e. rolling resistance). Accounting for these variations is a non-trivial procedure that hinges on the quality and resolution of the data gathered. The inability to accurately account for the coefficient of rolling resistance (Crr) makes it impossible to confidently report aerodynamic drag, increasing uncertainty when testing in the field. AeroLab not only accounts for Crr but actively identifies how these parameters alter Crr with our cloud based algorithms.
